CDR Chris White was raised in Falls City, Nebraska and enlisted in the Navy under the SAM program (reserve enlistment), 23 May 1989. He completed Recruit Training in Orlando, Florida and Signalman “A” School. He was an active reservist, drilling at the Naval Reserve Center, Lincoln, Nebraska while attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Upon graduation from the University of Nebraska in 1993, CDR White was commissioned Ensign, United States Navy.
His sea duty assignments include USS PONCE (LPD 15)as M and B Officer, Weapons Officer, NAVAL BEACH GROUP TWO as Detachment Officer-In-Charge, USS TORTUGA (LSD 46) as Operations Officer, USS LA SALLE (AGF 3)as First Lieutenant, USS PELELIU (LHA 5) as Ship’s Navigator, and ASSAULT CRAFT UNIT ONE, Executive Officer. He has completed two Western Pacific Deployments in support of OPERATIONS IRAQI FREEDOM, and OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM. Additionally, he has completed two Mediterranean deployments and one UNITAS deployment to South America.
Shore duty assignments include Instructor, Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Louisiana State University and Southern University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Commanding Officer, Naval Reserve Center Lincoln Nebraska; Instructor, Surface Warfare Officers School, Newport, Rhode Island.
His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (seven awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
